Their Family Story

Yaroslav and Lyudmila have a son, Daniel. He is 14. Yaroslav’s mother, Tatyana, also lived with them. On March 5, an explosion blasted windows out of the house near by; fearing for their lives, the family left for the Cherkasy region to live with relatives. They returned to the Kyiv region on April 25 but no longer had a home. They went to live with Lyudmila’s mother for a month. They didn’t have enough room for 4 of them. Then they were sheltered by friends for another month. Then their relatives’ grandmother died, and the family was allowed to live in the apartment of the deceased grandmother until the apartment was sold (it is already up for sale). The family is terrified that they will soon have to go somewhere again. Wherever they go, they are a big family to live somewhere long-term.

The family found out that their house is destroyed from the news on the Internet. They saw how their house was burning down on a video from a volunteer.

Tatyana, Yaroslav’s mother, says that their house survived the 2nd World War. Her parents told her that they were feeding soldiers in the courtyard of their house during that time.
