Senior Living Community
A new senior living community in the Kyiv Region where displaced seniors can live their lives in peace and joy.
Complete the Senior Community Kitchen
The Senior Community is open, and residents are already receiving three hot meals every day.
To make that possible, we moved forward with construction before all the funding had been raised, using funds temporarily allocated from other projects.
We’re now raising $76,000 to fully fund the kitchen that serves more than 160 displaced seniors today—and 246 residents as the community grows.
This is a one-time capital investment. Once the kitchen has been fully funded, the Ukrainian government will cover its ongoing operation, including staff and meals.
The Final Phase—Completing the Community
Looking ahead, one final opportunity remains to complete the vision for the Senior Community.
The final residential building is almost fully funded. Thanks to generous donors, the three residential floors and the bomb shelter have already been provided.
Now we’re raising funds for the final phase—an additional level that will make room for more displaced seniors, along with a Medical Center and Community Center that will serve the entire community.
This final phase includes:
- Additional Level of Fully-Furnished Apartments — $350,000
- Medical Center — $50,000
- Community Center — $150,000
- Elevator— $20,000
Why Focus On Seniors
One of the most vulnerable populations in Ukraine are seniors 60 and older. They worked their entire lives, raising families, building homes by hand, working to help the community. Tens of thousands of them now have nothing.
Nowhere to Return
Their homes in places like Bakhmut, Mariupol and Advivka have been wiped off the earth. They are called Internally Displaced Persons (IDP).
No Earning Years Left
These seniors thought their retirement would be peaceful. But they have nothing left. They have no earning power and receive pensions around $100 a month, barely enough for food and medicine.

What We Provide
Community
We are not only providing the housing for the elderly IDPs, but we are creating a community they can enjoy.
Daily Meals
To provide the residents with more comfort, we provide two daily meals at not cost for them.
On-site Management
We are hiring on-site management to keep the territory clean, elderly taken care of, and problems solved timely.
A True Community
Sitting on an idyllic forested property that still boasts easy access to the village, the Senior Community is more than a place to sleep. It is a place to restore mental and physical health, a place to create connections, a place to find community again.
The original building houses 16 seniors. Subsequent additions will house a total of 244 seniors in comfort and peace.
Main Building
Our 2- and 4-Plexes
Each unit houses 2-4 people with their own kitchens and bathrooms, allowing 101 more seniors to have a place to live and call home. Currently 50 seniors enjoy the apartments. Construction is slated to be finishing in Summer 2026.
Phase 1 Completed
August 10, 2024, To Ukraine With Love opened a new senior living center called Ridni Lyudi or Our People. The house sits on one acre of prime real estate in the Kyiv Region. The property is located in a national forest but within easy access of all necessities.
- room for 4 couples and 5 single seniors
- 700 sq ft caretaker’s cottage for onsite staff
- mature trees
- gardens
- walking paths
- outdoor gathering spaces
Phase 2A Completed
The second phase of move-ins at our Our People Senior Community has been completed, welcoming 57 more elderly residents into their new home. Nestled in a scenic resort town near Kyiv, the community offers a safe, comfortable, and dignified environment with 24/7 care, personalized meals, cozy living spaces, and peaceful outdoor areas.
Creating a Community
Many of our seniors arrived here having lost more than just their homes—with entire neighborhoods, friendships, and familiar ways of life ripped away by war. They’ve been moved from shelter to shelter, town to town, often uncertain where safety, comfort, or a helping hand will come next.
At our Senior Community, we’re not merely offering shelter — we’re restoring a sense of belonging. One woman, having fled Bakhmut with nothing but memories, was stunned to discover her old neighbor from the same town living in the center. These reunions spark hope, ease loneliness, and remind us that even after being tossed by the turbulence of displacement, community can still be rebuilt. Here, they share meals, stories, laughter, and tears — and step by step find a place they can finally call home again.
