To Ukraine With Love

About Us

Every person on our team has a piece of Ukraine in their heart. Some of us were born in Ukraine. Others grew to love the country through living there, serving there, learning the language or simply getting to know the people. All of us feel compelled to help. And to spread the word about how others like you can do the same.

Our Story

What started as a one-time airlift has grown into one of the most effective charities on the ground in Ukraine. With little overhead and excellent in-country leadership, To Ukraine With Love delivers housing, food, and essentials to those unjustly affected by the war.

Desperate to do something, anything, to help the people of Ukraine, Idaho Falls resident Svitlana Tolmachova Miller found that a military plane would be making a flight from Salt Lake City to Germany and that humanitarian aid items could be placed on that plane. Miller organized the transport of these goods from Germany to Kyiv and used her extensive network on the ground in Ukraine to determine what was needed most. Within a matter of days, donations and goods were organize and packed. Miller’s husband Daren personally accompanied the goods on the plane.  Miller received photos and videos showing that their goods were in the hands of everyday Ukrainians and shared them with the US donors!

It was clear that a system was in place to quickly get relief to people who needed it and share photos with the donors.  A 501 (c)3 was set up in record time and a fundraising dinner was held a few weeks later that raised $1,000,000. Political leaders from both sides of the world took notice. Dmytro Kushneruk, Consul General of Ukraine in San Francisco, and Victor Yushchenko, President of Ukraine from 2005 to 2010, pledged their support. U.S. Senator Mitt Romney, Congressman John Curtis and Senator Mike Lee joined a growing list of US leadership.

Today, To Ukraine With Love has grown much further than its first days delivering diapers, formula and tourniquets. Having put more than $22,000,000 in to Ukraine, the charity is on track to provide $50,000,000 in aid in 2023.

President Volodymr Zelensky recognized the charity for its overwhelming contribution to the everyday people of Ukraine: Such projects [as yours] are very important for us to support our people. My appreciation that you [have] chosen to invest in in life of ordinary people and that’s great.”

To Ukraine With Love focuses on housing those whose homes were destroyed near Kyiv and feeding those who are without options near the battlefront in the east. As of August 31, 2023, To Ukraine With Love has delivered:

  • 300 houses to individual families whose homes were destroyed on their land
  • More than 100,000 meals to the elderly and widowed living in Kkarkiv Region
  • Medical would vacs to saving 500 limbs and lives
  • 5,000 sleeping bags to stay warm and 400 generators to keep people warm
  • Hundreds of hours of therapy for children who have lost one or both parents
  • Rescues of Ukrainians in Russian filtration camps in the east and south east in locations like Mariupol and Bakmut.

All of our efforts are documented in photos and video and donors receive reports and connect with those they have served.  Our mission is to Help You Help Ukraine one person, one family at a time.
