Help Serhiy and Tamara Muranov Find a permanent home at "Our People" Senior Center
Their Story
Serhiy (75), an inventor in the field of computing, and his wife Tamara (65) once lived surrounded by books, projects, and a small but comfortable apartment in Sievierodonetsk.
Their city was vibrant with life, and their home a place of stability. That stability ended in February 2022, when Sievierodonetsk was bombarded from every direction.
The windows of their apartment shattered in the first days, leaving them to cover the frames with thin plastic sheets in freezing weather. For weeks they lived without electricity, gas, or water, forced to cook outside on open fires even as shells rained down around them. They buried neighbors in courtyards and huddled in basements to escape the relentless shelling. For more than a month, their survival was a daily miracle.
Eventually, they escaped, but the cost was unbearable — their home, possessions, and community were gone. Today, the family is scattered across different cities, separated by circumstance and financial strain. Serhiy and Tamara rely on the goodwill of friends, carrying with them not just the trauma of their escape but the grief of a life erased.
