Help Viktor and Anna Kvitko Find a permanent home at "Our People" Senior Center
Their Story
Viktor (72) and Anna (70) spent their lives working together on the railway. Their hands were worn from years of labor, but their home in Pokrovsk gave them comfort. That comfort vanished when the war destroyed their house and forced them to leave with little more than their dog and a few belongings.
In September 2024, volunteers evacuated them after Viktor suffered his second heart attack and could no longer walk. Their journey was a patchwork of stops — from Pavlohrad,to Bila Tserkva, then to Vorzel, where they stayed briefly with their daughter-in-law.
Eventually, they moved into a modular housing settlement. Each step was harder than the last, and each move stripped away more of their strength and sense of belonging.
Though they are grateful to be alive, the Kvitkos live with the weight of displacement. Their son now resides in Dnipro, his family in Vorzel, also struggling to afford rent. What they long for most is not wealth or comfort, but the simple dignity of stability — to end their days in peace, rather than in the constant upheaval of displacement.
