Basha Family Needs A Home

Valentina, age 75, is raising Sofia, age 15, an adopted granddaughter who is an orphan. Her older granddaughter Veronica, age 25, also lives with her. On February 24, 2022 the family heard the first shots of the war. Veronica went out into the yard to see what was happening when cluster shells started falling and she had to crawl back to the house to survive. The family immediately ran to the cellar and hid there for six weeks. They were very scared and under constant stress. Veronica worked in an ambulance and knew the residents of Dergachy needed help so she volunteered. She worked under constant shelling with very little sleep. Veronica is still working in an ambulance evacuating soldiers from the border of the Kharkiv region. The family left their home three months after the war started because it wasn’t safe. Their house was destroyed by shelling so they are currently living in a dormitory in Dergachy.
