Help us build a home for the Chernyaevy family this winter.

The Chernyaevy Family

Father Oleg (42), Mother Lika (36) Daughter Nika (18), Son-in-law Dmytro (22), and grandmother, Victoria (56), February 24th brought an unforeseen horror. Rupturing the silence, explosions startled everyone at 5:00 in the morning. War had begun, everyone realized. Under the threat of danger, adults and children gathered together, united by the common need to survive. They all headed to the cellar, where they endured ten long days. During their shelter stay, Oleg displayed true heroic spirit. He actively assisted the elders in distributing bread at the school, helped bake bread, and evacuated local residents. Dmytro dedicated himself to serving his homeland, mobilizing into the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where he stands in defense of state sovereignty. Victoria worked as a teacher at the local school, which was sadly destroyed. Two months into the horrors, amidst escalating shelling, Oleg decided to evacuate his family from the village to ensure their safety, while he returned to continue assisting those in need in his hometown. Currently, he resides in a garage as their home, their sanctuary, their everything was destroyed by the Russian occupiers.
