No Place Like Home

Before the war, the Makosii family home was located at a strategic crossroads with an excellent view of several critical streets in Irpin.

After the war started, the Ukrainian military asked the family if they could set up their military headquarters in the Makosii house. The family agreed and left for Western Ukraine, not knowing what would happen. 

The Makosii family thought that they were leaving for only 3 days, and so they left their German Shepherd in a dog house near the home. They never imagined what would take place in their hometown. 

At the end of March, their house was destroyed during the battle to liberate Irpin. Early in April, Anna returned for their dog. She discovered that the dog was so terrified, his hind legs were paralyzed from fear. Luckily, he has recovered.

Now only their garage is left. They now share a small space on its second floor with Anna’s parents (Maria and Vladimir). The conditions there are terrible because the garage was never meant to be lived in. The walls are very thin and there is no heating. 

We will build the home for the Makosii Family thanks to Chavez Family.
