To Ukraine With Love

Nykyforova Valeriia 15, female from Donetsk

Profile

Hello! My name is Valeriia, and I want to tell you about my life, my family, and how the war has changed everything. I was born and raised in Myrnohrad, Donetsk region — a place full of memories, now scarred by war.

My family means everything to me. My mother, Yuliia, is 42 and works as an economist. She embroiders and cooks amazing meals in her free time. My father, Serhii, is 43 and a long-haul truck driver. Though he’s often away, we treasure every moment together. I have a younger brother, Kyryl, who is 10 and loves swimming. He’s my best friend.

Even though the war separated me from many of my friends, we stay in touch and support each other. I also have a dog, Busia, who brings comfort to us all.

I study at a medical college, training to become a paramedic. I love reading, drawing, music, dancing — and above all, helping people. I dream of peace, of returning home without fear, and of seeing my hometown rebuilt. War has brought loss, displacement, and uncertainty — but also resilience and hope. I believe in a better future.
