Hosting a Student
Hosting a student from Ukraine is a life-changing experience for the entire family. With your community’s unique perspective on unexpected devastation, you have a unique shared experience from which you all can grow.
Students from Ukraine
Students ages 14 to 18 currently enrolled in high schools in Ukraine are looking for the opportunity to learn and take a break from the horrors of war. These students are selected by an extensive application and evaluation process. Students all have English skills sufficient to go to high school.
Families from Plumas County
Families will provide a loving and safe environment for the student. Including room and board.Students may share a bedroom with one host sibling of the same gender and similar age. Students need, a quiet place to study, some transportation, and guidance and support.
Support
Greenville Resident Sue Weber is the Program Director and will be there to help every step of the way with any questions. Lina Varianova—To Ukraine With Love’s Exchange Coordinator—will assist with issues and will support families and students. Sue and Lina will travel with students all the way to your home.
Family Life
This experience is an opportunity for Ukrainian children to receive respite from the horrors of war. At the same time, they will bring a rich culture and tradition to your family as well. Students are excited to participate in family activities and become a part of the community. If you plan to go on vacation, consider taking the student with you. If that is not possible, please let Sue and Lina know.
