Help Volodymyr and Ludmyla Pokrovskyi Find a permanent home at "Our People" Senior Center

Their Story

Ludmyla (69), a bookkeeper, and her husband Volodymyr (65), a miner, once lived in Horlivka. When fighting reached their city in 2014, volunteers evacuated them to Kostiantynivka, and later they moved to Zaporizhzhia. From there, they were placed in a modular dormitory, where they lived for years in cramped conditions but at least with a roof overhead.

In February 2025, they were transferred to the Batkivshchyna sanatorium in Truskavets, where they live today. Yet this, too, is temporary. Their contract is ending soon, and the couple once again faces eviction. Adding to their sorrow, their daughter remains in occupied Horlivka, and they have had no contact with her since 2022.

Exhausted by years of displacement, Ludmyla and Volodymyr carry a heavy weariness.

Their plea is not for wealth, but for peace of mind — to live the rest of their years without the fear of being uprooted again and again.
