The Marriott Daughters Foundation Are Fundraising For Onoprienko Family
Help us build a home for the Onoprienko family this winter.
The Onoprienko Family
On February 24, the entire Onoprienko family, including Alexey (64) the grandfather, Tatyana (62) the grandmother, Yulia (33) the mother, Victor (37) the father, Sophia (9), and Anastasia (9) the twins, was preparing for a normal day of work, school, and household chores. They heard the first shelling and couldn’t believe that the war had started. They tried to calm their daughters, saying it was fireworks and that it would soon be over. From the first days, the husband went to the village elder and said he would help however he could. They extinguished fires, evacuated wounded people, and assisted the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Due to the bombings shaking their home, the entire family moved to the cellar. The husband and wife went outside and saw Russian troops passing through. They counted a lot of military equipment and relayed all the information to friends in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Two months later, everyone fell ill, there was no food or medicine, so they left in their own car despite the ongoing shelling.
It’s very difficult for such a large family to find accommodation, so they split up and live in rooms in a dormitory. The girls find it very hard to watch their destroyed home. They want to return to their native land.
