Support Transformation
Donate to help a Ukrainian high school student come to the US for a semester
Make it Happen with a Donation
Your donation can bring a student to the US to live with a family and study in school. Vetted students are ready and US families are excited to have them. Your donation is the missing piece.
Any amount is a blessing. A student can be sponsored for an entire semester for $4,500. This pays for visas, transportation, and the support system in the US and in Ukraine.
Students from Ukraine
Students ages 14 to 18 currently enrolled in high schools in Ukraine are looking for the opportunity to learn and take a break from the horrors of war. These students are selected by an extensive application and evaluation process. Students all have English skills sufficient to go to high school.
Children in Ukraine have suffered so much trauma. First the pandemic kept them out of the classroom. Then, the war started 6 weeks after schools reopened, shuttering them once more. This fall, students will begin their 5th year of remote learning.
Support for the Students in the US
Families will provide a loving and safe environment for the student. Including room and board. Families have been vetted and are ready to accept these students. Additionally, Sue Weber, the Program Director, will be there to help every step of the way with any questions. Lina Varianova—To Ukraine With Love’s Exchange Coordinator—will assist with issues and will support families and students.
Family Life
This experience is an opportunity for Ukrainian children to receive respite from the horrors of war. At the same time, they will bring a rich culture and tradition the families they live with. Students are excited to participate in family activities and become a part of the community.
Victoria's Story
Hello, my name is Victoria. I’m 15, I am in 10th grade. I am from Ukraine, Kherson. I am sociable and communicative. At leisure I like read and doing yoga. I played volleyball professionally and went to competition before moving. Now I live near Kyiv with my mother and dad, also I have younger sister, grandmother and a dog, her name is Barny. My mom is 36, she is an accountant. My dad is 44 he worked builder and my sister as I played volleyball.
On February 24, 2022, the war began in Ukraine. Our city was occupied from the first days, we did not have the opportunity to leave there. It was very dangerous during the occupation, Russian soldiers walked with machine guns along the street and from house to house, it was very scary. We lived under occupation for almost 9 months. Some time after the de-occupation, a Russian rocket flew into our private house, at that moment my mother and Barney were in the house. It took 2 hours for my mother to be rescued from the rubble. The next day we left for Kyiv having nothing.
“To Ukraine with love” charity foundation provided us with a home. I’m grateful for this, but I still want to go home. Here I made new friends, new hobbies and goals.
Thank you for this opportunity to fulfill one of my dreams and improve my English.
