The Samoylov Family
Evgenii Samoylov, age 59, and his 3-year-old grandson, faced the brutal occupation of Tsopivka, where the Russian Military destroyed everything. Evgenii joined the military at the war’s onset and left for the front.
After three months, neighbors revealed that the invaders had obliterated everything and that the Samoylov family had lost their home. The home was destroyed specifically because Evgenii was a serviceman.
To add to his pain, his 3-year old grandson was abandoned by his parents in Western Ukraine. Upon discovering that his son had deserted his own child, Evgenii resigned from the military to take custody of his grandson.
Despite limited funds, he aspires for his grandson to grow up in their native village and is currently renting a small apartment. Being on their own land would mean so much to Evgenii and his grandson and would help heal the horrors experienced by this brave man and his family.
