The Klochko Family

Grandpa Mykola (66), Grandma Lidiya (66), Mother Irina (37), elder daughter Tetyana (14), and younger daughter (12).

On February 24th, as the ground trembled from the roar of machinery and tank fire, the family found themselves in a state of shock, realizing that war had begun. Their first instinct was to quickly head to the cellar, where they felt somewhat safe. Grandpa immediately took their beloved pets, swiftly relocating them to shelter as well. Soon electricity and gas vanished, making conditions very difficult and frightening. The family was cold and hungry, yet they chose to stay in the village. Concerned for the health of their elderly grandparents, they risked leaving during a lull between shelling. When the family received news of their destroyed home, they initially couldn’t believe it, but eventually came to terms with the harsh reality that they must start anew. The family faces extreme financial challenges as they strive to return to their land and begin the restoration process. Consequently, they’ve decided to rebuild their garage, which will serve as a temporary shelter for the entire family.
