Kovalyovi Family Needs A Home

Help us build a home for the Kovalyovi family this winter.

The Kovalyovi Family

Natalia (39), her elder son Mykola (15), her younger son Maksym (9), and Grandpa Sasha (63).

On February 24th, the nightmare unfolded: the first explosions and shelling shattered the peaceful life, engulfing the entire family in uncertainty and panic. They decided to immediately move to the grandparents’ house. During the move, they witnessed villagers fleeing as flames consumed everything around. There, the family endured a month with periodic warmth from a stove, as Grandpa Sasha braved shellings to gather firewood. When food and medicine ran out, and illness swept through the family, they had no choice but to seek refuge. They grabbed their dog and while loading their car, they witnessed a neighbor’s tragic death. In shock, they sped to Kharkiv, where sympathetic relatives took them in. They later learned their home was gone and they would have to rebuild from scratch, a blow that shattered their spirits. The family survives because of the kindness of strangers. They are determined to return and rebuild their lives, including their lost livestock, as they yearn to reclaim what they’ve lost.
